Would you love to get some feedback on a photo?  Maybe something you’ve submitted for competition in the past, and you have some questions about how you might have gotten a better score?  Or maybe you’re unsure how to edit a photo, and would like to solicit some opinions from some of your fellow photographers?  Or maybe you’re just excited about a photo you’ve taken and want to share it with others?  Then this Zoom meeting is for you.

During our session, you can tell us about why, where, and when you took it, what kind of gear you used, and what kind of editing decisions you’ve made in processing the photo. Then, if (and only if) you’d like, we’ll open up the discussion for others to offer comments and critiques.

You can share your photo via Zoom screen sharing, but if you are unsure of how to do that, or uncomfortable with Zoom you may email your images to Norbert Kugele at nfkugs@mac.com. Please no more than 3 photos in .jpg format (no more than 2160 pixels on the long side) Please understand that depending on attendance we may not get to all 3 of your images.

Everyone is welcome even if you just want to listen in and not share any images.

    Program: RUSS BARNEVELD

    LET’S GET ALTERNATIVE

Shortly after I started playing with photography, I decided that I wanted to do my own processing and printing. Luckily my wife worked at “Arden’s Photomart” and was able to get me a good deal on equipment. I absolutely loved working in the dark room and enjoyed seeing my images appear on the paper as the developer was working.

Now in the digital age I realize that I miss the process of creating my own prints. After seeing Kelly Walkotten’s presentation on “Alternative Printing” I decided that I should start investigating those processes. In this program Russ will present four short mini tutorials on alternative processing, printing, and display methods.

We will cover: Cyanotype Prints, Emulsion Lifts, Chlorophyll Prints, Agamographs

Russ is a long time member of Grand Rapids Camera Club. He enjoys stretching photographic boundaries and exploring both new and old ideas and techniques! Russ’ background in education shines through with his thirst for learning something new and his willingness to share what he has learned with others.

Following our program we will have a short social break. We will conclude the meeting by showing the January Competition images.

Guests are always welcome, we suggest a $5 donation for non-members. Members are always free.
